Machado was pumped to leave New York when he was traded during the inaugural draft. Machado realized he wasn't going to Canada after all and was getting sick of playing Florida. Mets needed 3rd baseman and were willing to part ways with players that were going to eventually create a log jam on the roster.

Toronto is a beautiful trading partner and he smells delish.

I don't really like Machado and I shouldn't have traded for him to begin with, but I'm still learning how to baseball. Hicks went down for the season so I needed an OF or I'd have an empty slot there on account of having no bench. I like Tyler O'Neill a lot, i realize I'm buying very high, but he's also been a highly touted fella in the past so it's not impossible to squint enough to see his current performance as sustainable. This also helps me diversify a bit cuz i've got no bench or cap space and had a few holes to fill due to injuries. Urias is a good baseball player and Shaw is brutal, so he'll get a fulltime slot soon enough. I like Corbin. He's struggling right now, but so is Machado. Zulueta is a blue jay, he's very broken right now, but he's a spect and spects can be broken.
